Overview CPD Continuing Personal or Professional Development - is the term that describes a commitment to structured skills enhancement and personal or professional competence. By becoming an accredited member of the service it means that we have an approved presentation that we can present all over the UK.
Who are the Audience? Architects, specifiers, M & E contractors - all professional bodies associated within the Heat Pump Industry.
Why CDP is Important to our Clients?
First, it should be emphasised that the concept of CPD is not new. Effective professionals in all fields have always realised the importance of new knowledge, improved skills and the development of personal qualities. In effect, CPD is simply part of good professional practice. What is new, however, is the greater importance and relevance of CPD to professional success.
What Next? Over the next few months Danfoss Heat Pumps UK will be contacting all relevant organisations to offer the opportunity to attend one of two educational and interesting presentations - "Heating Homes with Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps" and "The Use of Heat Pumps in Commercial Buildings" For an opportunity to book please call Tracey Keeling on 0114 2703900 or email info.heatpumps@danfoss.com. 2009 - Danfoss Heat Pumps UK is a member of The Heat Pump Association
The Heat Pump Association (HPA) is one of the UK's leading authority on the use and benefits of heat pump technology and includes many of the country's leading manufacturers of heat pumps, components and associated equipment.
The Association influences legislation and other matters that affect the interests of either the industry in general, or its members in particular. In addition, the HPA co-ordinates technical and market research into areas of mutual interest, identified by members with the aim of improving market opportunities for members.
The HPA recognises that heat pump technology will only fulfil its promise in the market if suppliers, installers and users fully appreciate their function and capabilities. A major objective of the association, therefore, is to raise awareness of heat pumps by informing prospective specifiers of their long-term benefits, reassuring end users and providing up-to-the-minute advice on the various systems available. The HPA creates this awareness through exhibitions, literature, promotions and public relations. Danfoss Heat Pumps UK is a member of BEAMA (British Electrotechnical and Allied Manufacturers Association)
BEAMA has been established for over 100 years, covering a range of industries in the electrical, energy, water and power related sectors. Over the last 2 years BEAMA has worked with key players in the heat pump industry in the UK.
BEAMA works with government to ensure that ground and air source heat pumps remain high on the renewable agenda, and that key regulatory building blocks are in place to ensure a sustainable future within the heat pump industry. The Government now recognises Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps as a renewable and sustainable source of heat, progressively saving carbon over time. Following a recent review by the REAL Assurance scheme auditors in May 2009 Danfoss Heat Pumps UK retains the accreditation.
The REAL Assurance Scheme was introduced in 2008 to ensure that micro generation equipment is specified, installed and maintained correctly, not only for the individual customer, but also for the development of the renewable energy industry at large. Unsuccessful applications will damage the reputation and credibility of this newly-emerging environmental sector. This is why the REAL Assurance Scheme was introduced.
The scheme explains that "a small number of cases where becoming a micro generator has not turned out to be a happy experience for the consumer". Our understanding leads us to believe that this can result from unrealistic expectations on the part of the customer. This could be the fault of either party. This guide - aimed at the customer, and the full Consumer Code - to be followed by member companies, aims to ensure this does not happen.Micro generation consumers are not necessarily technical experts, and nor should they need to be. On the other hand, without being an expert, consumers should make some effort to understand what they are purchasing. They should have a clear understanding of their expectations, and appreciate the extent to which the system proposed can reasonably meet them.
This guide is designed to help you to get what you want from a micro generation system. By following it, it will give you comfort that the company with which you are dealing is following the REAL Assurance Scheme Consumer Code for the supply of renewable and micro heat and power generators.
The company must be a member of the REAL Assurance Scheme. Look out for the REALity check symbol. If they don't have it, find a company that does. By being a member of the scheme the company is required to comply with the Consumer Code. That means they only use REAL installers or are accredited as REAL installers in their own right. Also they will only use products that are certified under the Microcertification Scheme, the Low Carbon Buildings Programme or the Clear Skies Programme.

The MCS is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services, and has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions.
