Heat Pumps - Our Product Range & The Benefits

Call 0114 270 3900 to Discuss your Heat Pump Requirements

Heat Pump technology involves equipment which transfers energy (heat) from one location (an open space) to another (a heat sink). Heat pump technology uses the refrigeration process (is applied by transferring) and transfers low temperature energy to a refrigeration loop, compresses the gases (heat) to a high temperature and transfers this heat to the hot water and heating distribution system(device called a heat sink). No matter how large or small the building, we will have a heat pump system to meet your needs. Our systems range from 6kW to 160kW and systems in excess of 250kW. Domestic hot water storage is also provided using 180 to 1000 litre pressurised vessels designed specifically for our Heat Pumps.

Key Benefits

  • No need for an oil or gas boiler!
  • Provides all of your heating and hot water needs.
  • One year parts and labour warranty.
  • Can be monitored over the internet for user confidence and security.
  • Mains pressure hot water cylinders from 180 litres to 1000 litres.
  • Considerable savings in energy bills compared to conventional systems.
  • For every 1 unit of electricity used, up to 4 units of heat are produced.
  • Change to 20+ years system lifetime and no scheduled maintenance.

Heat Collection Methods

Depending on your project, a number of options for heat collection are available.

Horizontal Closed Ground Loops:
When there is plenty of land available this is normally the most cost effective method. Polyethylene pipe is laid in trenches approximately 1m deep and a mixture of water and food grade anti-freeze ('brine') is circulated to collect energy from the ground.

  Horizontal Closed Ground Loops

Vertical Closed Ground Loops:
Where space is tight, vertical boreholes may be the answer. They can range from 25m - 150m deep but can be expensive depending on the location. A closed U-tube is placed in the borehole and a mixture of water and anti-freeze is circulated to collect energy.
  Vertical Closed Ground Loops

Air Source System:
This harnesses solar energy found in the outdoor air. With this system there is no need for digging or drilling and installation is very quick and simple. It is ideal for urban sites where there is very little ground space.
  Air Source System

Vertical Open Loops:
This type of loop system may be cost-effective if ground water is plentiful. Ground water from an aquifer is pumped to a heat exchanger then transfers its heat to the heat pump. After it leaves the building, the water is pumped back into the same aquifer via a second well, called a discharge well, located at a suitable distance from the first.
  Vertical Open Loops

Closed Pond Loops:
This type of loop design may be the most economical if your building is near a body of water such as a large pond or lake. The brine circulates underwater through polyethylene piping in a closed system. The pipes may be coiled in a slinky shape to fit more of it into a given amount of space. Because it's a closed system, there are no adverse impacts on the aquatic system.
